History and Winemaking
Established in 1698, Diemersdal farm has been under the care of the Louw family since 1885. Thys Louw, the sixth generation to work the land, actively oversees the viticulture and winemaking processes. The estate spans 340 hectares, with 180 hectares dedicated to vines and the remainder used as grazing land. While they specialize in Sauvignon Blanc, Diemersdal also produces elegant and concentrated Cabernets.
The estate does not use irrigation, benefiting from cool mists that roll in each afternoon off the Atlantic. These mists help slow ripening, enhancing the aromatic finesse of the wines. The dry farming practices and unique microclimate ensure that the grapes develop intense flavours and complexity.
