Description
2023 La Trucha Albariño from Rías Baixas is a quintessential example of Spain’s celebrated Albariño grape. With enticing aromas of apricot, peach, and pineapple, this wine is beautifully balanced by a subtle saline minerality that reflects its coastal origins. On the palate, it is lively and fresh, offering a textured mouthfeel and a crisp acidity that leads to a long, refreshing finish. Perfect for those who enjoy a vibrant, fruit-forward white wine with a touch of elegance, La Trucha delivers a delightful expression of the Rías Baixas region.
History and Winemaking
Produced by Notas Frutales de Albariño, La Trucha hails from the Condado de Tea sub-zone of Rías Baixas, situated near the Portuguese border. This area enjoys a slightly warmer and drier climate compared to the rest of Rías Baixas, thanks to its inland location and elevated vineyards, which sit at approximately 300m above sea level on the right bank of the Miño River.
The Alonso family, who farm these vineyards, is dedicated to crafting wines that highlight the Albariño grape’s natural vibrancy and minerality. The 2023 vintage was meticulously hand-harvested and fermented in stainless steel to preserve the grape’s aromatic intensity and fresh character. Named after the trout that José Alonso fished for in the Miño River as a child, La Trucha is a tribute to both the family’s roots and the region’s natural beauty.
