Description
A truly special vintage, Harrow & Hope’s Brut Rosé 2020 is an opulent and fruit-forward expression of English sparkling rosé. Despite the challenges of 2020, this vintage benefitted from an exceptionally ripe and concentrated crop, resulting in a wine of remarkable purity, softness, and elegance. While the blend and winemaking process remain unchanged from previous releases, there’s something undeniably unique about this edition—each sip glides effortlessly across the palate, offering a delicate balance of red fruit intensity, freshness, and finesse. A wine that is already stunning but promises even greater complexity with age.
History and Winemaking
Harrow & Hope is known for crafting some of England’s finest sparkling wines, drawing from the rich terroir of their single vineyard in Marlow. The 2020 vintage stands out for its small yet highly concentrated harvest, which contributed to the wine’s incredible depth of flavour. Made from a classic Champagne blend of 50% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay, and 20% Pinot Meunier, 30% of the base wine is barrel-fermented, adding texture and roundness. Aged for 30 months on lees, this Rosé showcases both richness and finesse, making it one of the most exciting releases from Harrow & Hope to date.
Tasting Notes
Bursting with aromas of wild strawberries, redcurrants, and crushed raspberries, this Rosé is beautifully layered with hints of citrus zest and delicate pastry notes. The palate is silky and refined, balancing ripe summer fruit with a fresh, mineral-driven acidity. A long, elegant finish leaves a lingering impression of soft berries and subtle spice.
Pairings
This versatile and elegant sparkling rosé pairs wonderfully with smoked salmon, crab, or tuna tartare. Its bright fruit and freshness also complement duck, charcuterie, or creamy cheeses like Brillat-Savarin. For a delightful contrast, try it with strawberries and cream or a light berry tart.
