History and Winemaking
Ian Kellett acquired Hambledon Vineyard in 1999 with a vision to restore its winemaking heritage. Recognising the potential for sparkling wines in England, he planted a 10-acre ‘test bed’ of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier. Reviving a former relationship, the vineyard collaborated with the esteemed Champagne House, Pol Roger. Proving the site’s capability to grow quality grapes, the vineyard became a company in 2010, with support from minority shareholders and government funding. In 2011, Hervé Jestin, a prominent chef de cave, joined as a winemaking expert. Now boasting over 200 acres of vineyards and a state-of-the-art winery and visitor centre.
