Description
A vibrant and expressive blend from the heart of Swartland, this Chenin Blanc and Grenache Blanc showcases decadent tropical fruit, subtle spice, and a beautifully concentrated mid-palate. The wine’s rich texture is complemented by a long, juicy finish, making it a standout choice for those who love full-flavoured, fruit-driven whites.
History and Winemaking
Klein Kasteelberg takes its name from the majestic Kasteelberg Mountain, which overlooks the fertile Riebeek Valley in Swartland. Known for its dry-land vineyards and diverse soils, the region provides the perfect conditions for lesser-known varieties to thrive. The grapes for this wine were hand-selected and vinified separately before blending, ensuring that each varietal’s unique characteristics shine. Fermented at low temperatures using only free-run juice, the wine was aged for three months on gross lees to enhance texture and depth.
Tasting Notes
Lush aromas of ripe pineapple, guava, and stone fruits are lifted by hints of warm spice. On the palate, layers of tropical fruit and citrus are complemented by a rich, concentrated mouthfeel, leading to a lingering, juicy finish.
Pairings
This wine pairs beautifully with grilled seafood, aromatic Thai dishes, and roasted poultry. Its tropical notes and refreshing acidity also make it a great match for creamy cheeses such as Brie or mild goat’s cheese.
