Description
Kaesler’s Stonehorse Shiraz is a bold, rich red wine from the Barossa Valley, full of dark fruit, spice, and smooth tannins. It has a deep crimson color and bursts with flavors of blackberries, plums, and dark cherries, with hints of pepper, chocolate, and a touch of oak. The wine is full-bodied, with ripe fruit, warming spice, and fine tannins, leading to a smooth, long finish. A powerful yet easy-to-drink Shiraz, great for both immediate enjoyment and aging.
History and Winemaking
Stonehorse Shiraz comes from one of the Barossa Valley’s oldest wineries, with a history dating back to 1893. The Stonehorse range highlights the estate’s old vineyards, some over 100 years old. This Shiraz comes from low-yield, dry-grown vines and is fermented in open-top tanks before being aged in oak barrels. This process helps the wine develop complexity while keeping its fresh fruit character.
Tasting Notes
Aromas of blackberries, plums, and dark cherries, with underlying notes of pepper, cocoa, and a touch of vanilla spice. The palate is rich and full-bodied, featuring ripe black fruit, earthy undertones, and well-integrated oak, with a smooth, lingering finish.
Pairings
This bold Stonehorse Shiraz pairs beautifully with grilled meats, slow-cooked lamb, or barbecued ribs. Its dark fruit and spice also complement hearty stews, aged cheddar, or smoked brisket. A fantastic choice for robust dishes and rich, savoury flavours.
